Who Are We?
NEWS & ANNOUCEMENTS - SENIOR YEAR!!!
Dates to Note:
August 19, 2010 - Senior check in day - Dawg Days of Summer
August 23, 2010 - First Day of Class
September 8, 2010 - Booster Club Meeting, Bowie Choir Rm @ 6:30pm
September 11, 2010 - Bulldogs & Hotdogs
VENUE BOOKED: The Booster Officers reviewed several options for the site of Projection Graduation and we have chosen Dave & Busters. We tested the idea with a wide range of 2011 students and received nothing but excitement and enthusiasm. A terrific list of activities has been put on the plate and we hope to add them all in. Ongoing efforts to raise funds continue to reach our financial obligations so that we can give our students a night they will never forget and will talk about at HS reunions to come.
MEMBERSHIPS: At this time we have 137 booster members out of 600+ students. We know that chances are there will be last minute memberships however, delaying becoming a booster member does not allow us to set a budget and secure activities or allow for any door prizes that many of the students look forward to. At this time we are looking at a minimum of $30,000 to put this event together. With effort from less than 1/3 of our families participating it has been difficult to solidify plans. Please take a look at the attached membership list and if you do not see your name on it PLEASE complete the membership form and submit payment as soon as possible. Don’t let your student be left out. memberlist / membership form
We are also reaching out for Community support from area businesses. If you frequent a particular establishment consider asking them to support our cause (dentist, bank, nail salon, hair stylist, restaurants etc). I would be glad to go out and visit with anyone wishing to make a donation, just let one of your booster officers know.

DAWG DAYS: By now you should have received information regarding Dawg Days of Summer. As of today there have not been any make up days or procedures should you be unable to attend.
You are expected to attend “Dawg Days of Summer,” The purpose of the Dawg Days is to minimize the loss of instructional time by taking care of the following “housekeeping” items prior to the first day of school: pictures, ID’s, lockers, textbooks, parking permits, and yearbook purchase. For your convenience I have attached the parking permit registration form NOTE: this is the most current listed on the JBHS website, should an updated version be posted I will post to the JBHS2011 website.
Schedule for Seniors is as follows: August 19, 2010
A – Goo 10:00am – 12:00pm
Goo – 0 12:00am – 2:00pm
P- Z 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Any Alpha 5:00pm – 6:30pm
Everyone is to report to the Southwest Room F167 to begin the process.
SENIOR PHOTOS: By now you should have received a flyer in the mail with your students name on it and on the top left hand corner it reads Seniors by photo texas photography (mine is light blue with green trim – assuming they are all the same) if you are getting as much senior paraphernalia as I am it could be easily misplaced in that “special pile”. This form will have the date and time your student is to report to the school for their yearbook photo. All yearbook photos will be done by PhotoTexas. If you are not able to make your appointed time you can contact them directly to make other arrangements. (Time & Date is about midway for the tri-fold flyer)
ATTIRE: Senior Gentlemen should bring a white shirt (t-hirt/undershirt) to wear under the tuxedo. Senior Ladies: Please bring a top with spaghetti straps to wear under your drape.

If you want to get more personalized photos of your senior please consider using one of our sponsors who will be donating back to Project Graduation in support of the cause. Book early as slots will fill up fast.

Note from the Booster President:
Hopefully you have scrolled down to read who we are and what we are doing. Now you tell yourself, I am not sure my student is going to Project Graduation.
Here is my answer to that ...
I just don't know??? [Click on link to read]

Making Memories: We need you to send us photos of your 2011 student either at work (i.e band, athletics, theater, choir) or play (hanging out/chillin, what ever the term is these days). We know they are a busy and active group and we would like to show them off and thier accomplishments - they love seeing photos of themselves. Please send us your photos to post to the Photo Gallery of our website (see menu to the left). CD's can be dropped off at the school in an envelope marked Class 2011 Booster Club. Please do not put any names on the photos. Photos posted will not include any personal information, not even a first name.

WHO WE ARE
The Booster Club for the James Bowie High School Class of 2011 has been established. The booster club will consist of parents/guardians who have a son and or daughter graduating in 2011.
The purpose of the club is to raise funds for (JBHS) Project Graduation, an all-night, chaperoned, substance-free celebration for the graduating seniors of JBHS.
The purpose of this party is to congratulate the seniors for completing their high school curriculum as well as to provide a safe, enjoyable environment for these students on their graduation night.
It is hoped that these young adults will carry into the future the message that a good time can be had without the use of drugs and alcohol. Organization of this event takes MANY volunteers and we will need your help.
There are several ways you can volunteer with the Class of 2011 Booster Club. You can volunteer to work on a fundraising committee, attend our meetings (dates will be available on our website), solicit donations for raffle prizes or purchase raffle items. You can also donate drinks and food for various fundraisers or help with set up and clean up of events, like Bulldogs & Hotdogs. You can even become an officer of the Booster club or committee chair. There are many opportunities for you to become involved in and make a difference in your child’s high school years. The time goes by fast and you want to be a part of this special time in your student’s life.
Say it again in laymen’s terms …
Who Are We - we are a group of parents just like you, who are interested in providing a safe, fun-filled celebration for our graduating senior students on the evening of commencement in May 2011. The purpose of this organization is to raise funds for (JBHS) Project Graduation, an all-night, chaperoned, substance-free celebration for the graduating seniors of JBHS.
Why Are We Here - we have committed a few hours a month to inform, guide, and encourage the implementation of efforts needed to fund our Project Graduation goal
Goals:
- to get all parents invovled and join the booster club - membership fees are a large source of funding, if we can get everyone to join, we would not need to fundraise
- to develop and execute fundraising events - see goal #1
- to develop an alternative plan in case our funding needs for this initiative are not met
